Women’s Basketball
The Lady Lakers had an eventful second half of the season last year. Along with a new coach, and participating in their first National Basketball Tournament at AIHEC in Rapid City, South Dakota, the ladies fought hard right to their last game. Three players graduated, Tifani Ellis, Tonya Morris, and Petra Rodriguez. End of season awards went to Tonya Morris, receiving the MVP award, and Danika Staples who received the Academic Excellence Award.
The Lady Lakers welcomed a new coach mid season, Tara Goodsky from Bemidji. Tara played for the Deer River Warriors and the Bemidji State University Beavers. She holds a BA in American Indian Studies and a minor in Psychology. She began playing basketball in the 3rd grade and continued on through the collegiate level. As a player and now a coach, she is very supportive of student athletes and actively helps balance life, school, and their passion to play.
